concept design and craft of the new foyer/bar interior for the HochX Theater in Munich.
In collaboration with Felix Heisel, we developed the concept for the new foyer/bar interior for the HochX Theater in Munich. We aimed for a minimal and straight-forward design, so it retains the feeling of a blank canvas, the backdrop to plays and events which keep your full attention.
The foyer is used for different kinds of events and performances, requiring a flexible arrangement of seating and tables. For maximum adaptability, we designed a modular system, where benches can become support for the table, and vice versa. To create a table, you turn two benches 90 degrees and stack them, adding a table top to complete it.
Lastly, we enhanced a particularly important aspect of such a performance space: we built the acoustic panel to improved the room’s acoustics, while demonstrating that sound enhancing additions can be aesthetically pleasing.
